What we do.

The Talent on Demand program is unique to PHSA and the first of its kind among health authorities. 

PHSA Talent on Demand is an in-house recruitment service that specializes in providing talent to the health authorities including PHSA. We have a diverse pool of candidates who are at various stages in their careers, and who are passionate about helping people, giving back to their communities, and making an impact. With positions available across many different service areas, we match individuals to opportunities so that they can start, develop, or specialize their career in healthcare.   

Our small team of entrepreneurial recruitment experts specialize in various areas within the health authorities including:

  • Information Technology 
  • Administration
  • Finance
  • Project-based work 
  • New grad placement (co-op and internships)

How we help candidates realize their career goals.

We offer candidates the chance to gain valuable skills and experience in their field. Those who have been hired through the Talent on Demand program often move to multiple temporary assignments throughout the organization, thereby helping them gain exposure to various parts of the health care system. This unique work experience can help our employees discover what areas of the organization might be the best career path for them, while satisfying their desire to do purpose-driven work. Our goal is to help our employees’ transition into permanent roles within PHSA.

We’re passionate about helping people find work that excites them. Every year, we bring in over 400 new employees into PHSA and the other healthcare authorities. Many of our employees have used these opportunities as a stepping stone to build on their skills and experience, as well as develop into progressively more senior roles. 

Innovation & advancement: Karthik's story:

Karthik Sathia Moorthi started his journey with PHSA as a Project Coordinator within the BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services (BCMHSUS) ToD program. Karthik advanced within the team, assuming the pivotal role of Project Manager in a ToD capacity, then succeeded in a regular full-time PM role within the same team, where he continues to thrive today.

"My career path at BCMHSUS commenced through ToD in the Interprofessional Practice team. The most gratifying aspect of my role thus far has been contributing to the team that constructed BCMHSUS's Centre for Learning—an educational hub that consolidates mental health and substance use education for professionals, fostering an environment of continuous learning and growth."
