Professional Conduct

PHSA's mandate ensures the planning, coordination, accessibility, quality, efficiency and effectiveness of several province-wide health-care programs and services.
As a means of fulfilling its mandate, PHSA developed policies to ensure the highest standards of conduct are maintained and that the organization remains open, accountable, and transparent to the public and its sponsors.

PHSA’s policies commit to standards and behaviours that employees and other parties engaged in the workplace are to demonstrate on an ongoing basis, including serving patients and the public interest; demonstrating personal and professional integrity; promoting an ethical environment; and striving for professional excellence.

Code of Ethics

The Code of Ethics (PDF) is the foundation of PHSA’s values.

To ensure PHSA’s values and integrity are maintained, other policies address specific circumstances and have informal and formal reporting and resolution processes. These policies include:

Safe reporting

If a person feels that none of the aforementioned policies adequately address their concerns or protect their interests, that person is encouraged to report the matter under the Safe Reporting Policy (formerly Whistleblower), if applicable.

Matters addressed under the Safe Reporting Policy are handled through an independent escalation and investigation process that protects the reporting individual from reprisal.
