Our planning is guided by Government’s strategic priorities, noted in Setting Priorities for the B.C. Health System and in the Taxpayer Accountability Principles.
The performance measures presented are consistent with the Ministry of Health’s mandate and goals and the focus on aspects critical to our performance. The targets in this plan have been determined based on an assessment of PHSA's operating environment, forecast conditions, risk assessment and past performance.
The 2016/17-2018/19 service plan highlights significant initiatives that are underway, in accordance with our mandate. We are working to address issues that span all areas of the province, including:
Delivering patient-centred services and care to shift the culture of health care from being disease-centred and provider-focused to being patient centred
Ensuring we deliver high quality and appropriate health services that best meet the assessed needs of our population in a fiscally sustainable manner
Managing the performance of our organization through continuous improvement across our service and operational accountabilities
Improving care for key patient populations and service delivery in cross-sector priority areas
