The Provincial Language Service Your Partner in a Multilingual World
Mission
The Provincial Language Service (PLS), a program of the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA), strengthens organizations to provide services to the linguistically and culturally diverse public.
Four established quality service streams
PLS provides interpreting, translation, training, and consulting services. Our services are province-wide, health focused, and connected to local communities:
Interpreting Services: Face-to-face and via telephone interpreting (spoken language) in over 150 languages for governmental institutions, health care agencies, and public and private organizations across British Columbia.
Translation Services: Capacity to translate documents into a variety of languages. Services also include editing, review, revision, proofreading, graphic layout, transcription, narration, voiceover, and community group testing.
Training Services: Specialized training on workforce diversity and culturally competent service provision, designed with the client’s needs in mind. Assist health care providers and organizations to understand how to best meet the service needs of their diverse communities and clients.
Consulting Services: PLS works closely with clients to identify how to improve multilingual service delivery across systems and services, from organizational enhancements to program designs.
Community-based & wide-reaching
Communicating in the right language and with the right cultural meaning can make all the difference in reaching your audience and making sure the message is understood. PLS strives to offer client-focused and community-based solutions.
