On Dec. 3, 2025, the Ministry of Health announced the Province is acting on early findings from the health authority review by bringing together administrative and corporate services across regional health authorities and the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). The functions will be delivered through a new, standalone shared services organization that supports all health authorities, allowing them to focus more on delivering better care for patients. The new organization will be established by spring 2026. Services will gradually transition to the new organization over time, and as the details are finalized.

Related to this, PHSA's mandate will begin to shift. Instead of providing a mix of specialized clinical services, provincial clinical policy and planning programs and corporate/support services, the organization will be re-focused on specialty health care services—along with related academic and research programs—delivered through BC Cancer, BC Children's Hospital, BC Women's Hospital + Health Centre, BC Emergency Health Services, BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services, BC Centre for Disease Control, and the Genome Sciences Centre.

Work will take place over the coming months to further define the scope of services within each organization, to support implementation planning and to ensure no disruptions to patient care.
