Longitudinal Record Access

This project will establish a provincial gateway that enables information sharing between clinical systems and health settings in a secure and standardized way.

Once complete, barriers to information sharing will be removed as all core provincial health data assets are reworked to meet national standards. In time, our clinical systems will be able to ‘talk to one another’, improving our information sharing capabilities.

This solution will be used by health authorities, care providers and administrative staff. Any health care professional who needs access to clinical data to deliver informed and coordinated care will be provided access on a need-to-know basis.

Patients will also have improved access their own health information from the comfort of their own home or via mobile device.

Benefits

  • Enables care providers to access and share relevant information about a patient’s care and medical history from multiple sources.
  • Provides patients with direct access to their own health information and better tools to manage consent.
  • Improves performance and reduces costs by partnering with health authorities to implement provincial solutions and shared data repositories.
  • Strengthens security measures, privacy controls and auditing processes to ensure patient information is protected from unauthorized use.
