Academic Partnerships

PHSA’s research enterprise is strengthened through formal academic partnerships with universities across British Columbia.

As an academic health organization, PHSA works closely with the University of British Columbia and other academic institutions — including Simon Fraser University, the University of Victoria and the University of Northern British Columbia — to advance health research, foster innovation and support education and training across the province.

These partnerships create an integrated academic health environment where discovery, clinical practice and education are closely connected. PHSA researchers hold academic appointments, supervise graduate students and trainees, and collaborate on provincial, national and international research initiatives.

Each year, more than 3,000 research trainees gain hands-on experience across PHSA hospitals, laboratories and community settings. This academic collaboration strengthens the research workforce while accelerating the translation of new knowledge into improved patient care, disease prevention and health system performance across British Columbia.
