Clinical mentor spotlight: J. Matsui De Roo

​J. Matsui De Roo is a third generation Japanese Canadian, mixed race, queer, trans and nonbinary settler, living and working on the unceded ancestral lands of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh nations. Matsui is a registered clinical counsellor and clinical supervisor who offers anti-oppression based education, supervision and guidance for mental health, medical and front line workers with an area of focus in Two-Spirit, trans, non binary and gender diverse wellness. 

Matsui's area of specialization includes resilience and healing from trauma; honouring and centring people with intersectional identities; gender affirming sexual health and wellness; supporting individuals living with chronic pain and disability; and helping health care practitioners navigate living and working in small communities. 

Physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, registered clinical counsellors, and registered health care professionals are invited to join J. Matsui De Roo on January 23rd Mentorship Call. This dial-in meeting will provide an opportunity for sharing of information and resources, clinical discussion and professional networking. 

Trans Care BC’s Clinical Mentorship Call is held every Thursday from 12:10 to 1:00 p.m. (Pacific Time). If you would like to be involved, please email trans.edu@phsa.ca to be included on our distribution list. Meeting minutes will be made available to all members.
