Clinical mentor spotlight: Cathy Maser

‎Cathy has been a paediatric nurse for her entire career, working at The Hospital for Sick Children for the past 30 years in the Cardiac Critical Care unit, the Division of Neonatology, the Acute Care Transport Team and the Emergency Department.

Since obtaining her Master of Nursing degree at the University of Toronto in 2007, she has been working as a Nurse Practitioner in the Division of Adolescent Medicine. Her clinical focus is with youth with chronic illness, substance misuse, sexual health, gender identity and minor mood disorders.

Cathy is a founding member of the Transgender Youth Clinic since its opening in October 2013. She is the Team Lead for the clinic and is actively involved in partnerships within the transgender care community and often provides education to schools, parents, health care providers and community agencies on adolescent brain development, mental health, substance use and gender diverse identities.

Cathy was also on faculty at the Lawrence S Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto as a Lecturer in the Undergraduate and Nurse Practitioner programs for 12 years. 

Physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, registered clinical counsellors, and registered health care professionals are invited to join Cathy Maser on January 30th Mentorship Call. This dial-in meeting will provide an opportunity for sharing of information and resources, clinical discussion and professional networking. 

Trans Care BC’s Clinical Mentorship Call is held every Thursday from 12:10 to 1:00 p.m. (Pacific Time). If you would like to be involved, please email trans.edu@phsa.ca to be included on our distribution list. Meeting minutes will be made available to all members.
