This year, we want to shed a spotlight on Trans Care BC’s Lauren Goldman (Nurse Educator) and Ray Croy (Surgical Nurse Coordinator).
Lauren Goldman works with our Education Team to develop educational resources for clinicians that promote comprehensive, affirming health services for transgender, non-binary and gender diverse Two-Spirit individuals. Lauren is a queer woman of Middle Eastern and European descent, currently living in the unceded Coast Salish Territory of Vancouver. She loves hot sauce, her cheeky dog, and foods that remind her of home.
Ray Croy is our Surgical Nurse Coordinator who provides support to trans and gender diverse people accessing gender-affirming surgery. When Ray's not at work, they like travelling, exploring contemporary art galleries, DIY projects, hanging out in the woods, spending time with friends, their beagle Dory and cat Sophia, eating Tacos, and playing board games. Ray is also studying ASL. She was born in the prairies on a dark and stormy night but raised in Victoria BC on the unceded traditional territories of the Lkwungen (Esquimalt and Songhees), Malahat, Pacheedaht, Scia'new, T'Sou-ke and W̱SÁNEĆ (Pauquachin, Tsartlip, Tsawout, Tseycum) peoples.
If you'd like to connect with Lauren or Ray, you can email them at TransCareBC@phsa.ca.
Thank you Lauren, Ray and all other nurses providing gender-affirming care across the province – we appreciate you!
