Clinical Mentor Spotlight: Jamie Tourond

We are pleased to introduce our May 6th Clinical Mentorship Call mentor:  Jamie Tourond!

Jamie Tourond (she/her) is a family nurse practitioner (NP-F) in Abbotsford, BC. Prior to her NP-F role she worked as a critical care RN for 10 years. She graduated from the University of Northern British Columbia in 2015 with a Master of Science in Nursing with a special focus on First Nation Health. Since becoming an NP-F she works at the Abbotsford Youth Health Centre and Sumas First Nation Reserve serving a diverse population.

Her desire to increase access to quality gender-affirming care quickly grew when the needs in her community were evident. Since 2017 she has been providing weekly trans care clinics with an amazing multidisciplinary team at the Abbotsford Youth Health Centre. She is a hormone and surgical readiness assessor, and provides ongoing care for many trans youth and adults in Abbotsford. She thoroughly enjoys this work and is often saying it is the most rewarding part of her career.  ‎

Physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, registered clinical counsellors, and registered health care professionals are invited to join Jamie Tourond on the May 6th Mentorship Call. This Zoom meeting will provide an opportunity for sharing of information and resources, clinical discussion and professional networking.

Trans Care BC’s Clinical Mentorship Call is held every Thursday from 12:10 to 1:00 p.m. (Pacific Time). If you would like to be involved, please email trans.edu@phsa.ca to be included on our distribution list. Meeting minutes will be made available to all members.
