Clinical Mentor Spotlight: Dr. Todd Sakakibara

We are pleased to introduce our July 15th Clinical Mentorship Call mentor:  Dr. Todd Sakakibara!

‎Todd is a Vancouver based family physician who works at Three Bridges Community Health Centre in primary care and with the VCH Transgender Specialty Care Program.  He also works with the St. Paul's Hospital family medicine residency program and is involved in faculty development.

Todd started working in the area of gender in 2002 with Pride Health Services which ran out of Three Bridges.  Through the years he has seen the evolution of gender care from the very restricted, confining and outdated models of trans care to the much more patient oriented current models.  He has been involved in educating medical students, residents and practicing clinicians in the area of trans health for many years.  The clinics at Three Bridges now routinely have learners coming through from a variety of specialties and disciplines, striving to increase gender affirming competencies in the health sector.

Physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, registered clinical counsellors, and registered health care professionals are invited to join Dr. Todd Sakakibara on the July 15th Mentorship Call. This Zoom meeting will provide an opportunity for sharing of information and resources, clinical discussion and professional networking.

Trans Care BC’s Clinical Mentorship Call is held every Thursday from 12:10 to 1:00 p.m. (Pacific Time). If you would like to be involved, please email trans.edu@phsa.ca to be included on our distribution list. Meeting minutes will be made available to all members.
