Clinical Mentor Spotlight: Cathy Maser

We are pleased to introduce our December 16th Clinical Mentorship Call mentor:  Cathy Maser!

​Cathy has been a paediatric nurse for her entire career, working at The Hospital for Sick Children for over 30 years. Her background at Sick Kids was in acute care areas (PICU, NICU, Neonatal Transport Team and Emergency Dept) until she obtained her Master of Nursing degree at the University of Toronto in 2007. Since then, she has been working as a Nurse Practitioner in the Division of Adolescent Medicine. Her clinical focus is with youth with chronic illness, substance misuse, sexual health, gender identity and minor mood disorders.

Cathy is a founding member of the Transgender Youth Clinic since it's opening in October 2013. She is Team Lead for the clinic and is actively involved in partnerships within the transgender care community and often provides education to schools, parents, health care providers and community agencies on adolescent brain development, mental health, substance use and gender diverse identities. She is also a consultant with the Telepsychiatry program, providing assessment and treatment recommendations for gender diverse youth living in more remote regions of Ontario.


Cathy was on faculty at the Lawrence S Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto as a Lecturer in the Undergraduate and Nurse Practitioner programs for 12 years where she helped develop and deliver curriculum related to paediatric and adolescent health. 


Physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, registered clinical counsellors, and registered health care professionals are invited to join Cathy Maser on the December 16th Mentorship Call. This Zoom meeting will provide an opportunity for sharing of information and resources, clinical discussion and professional networking. 

Trans Care BC’s Clinical Mentorship Call is held every Thursday from 12:10 to 1:00 p.m. (Pacific Time). If you would like to be involved, please email trans.edu@phsa.ca to be included on our distribution list. Meeting minutes will be made available to all members.
