Clinical Mentor Spotlight: Carrie Turri

We are pleased to introduce our November 25th Clinical Mentorship Call mentor:  Carrie Turri!

Carrie Turri (she/her) is a queer/cis Family Nurse Practitioner, working in a primary care practice at Seymour Health Centre in downtown Vancouver. During her Masters training, she became acutely aware of the lack of access to gender affirming primary care in both rural and urban settings.  Her dream and passion was to start a primary care practice that was more focused on transgender/gender diverse folks who were in need of care, and so she started building her own primary care panel with this focus in 2020.  She now has a busy primary care practice with approximately 50% of her patients being transgender/gender diverse.  Creating access to gender affirming medical care is the most rewarding area of her work.

Carrie is thankful to the mentorship through Trans Care BC and other experienced clinicians, as well as the patience of her gender diverse clients who have been fundamental to her knowledge acquisition throughout her professional journey.

Physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, registered clinical counsellors, and registered health care professionals are invited to join Carrie Turri on the November 25th Mentorship Call. This Zoom meeting will provide an opportunity for sharing of information and resources, clinical discussion and professional networking.

Trans Care BC’s Clinical Mentorship Call is held every Thursday from 12:10 to 1:00 p.m. (Pacific Time). If you would like to be involved, please email trans.edu@phsa.ca to be included on our distribution list. Meeting minutes will be made available to all members.
