Clinical Mentor Spotlight: Dr. Lauren Galbraith

We are please to introduce our June 23rd Clinical Mentorship Call mentor: Dr. Lauren Galbraith

Dr. Lauren Galbraith is a family physician with a full-scope family practice in Nelson and Salmo, BC. She started providing gender affirming care in summer 2019 after completing a mentorship at the Trans Specialty Clinic during her UBC Fellowship in Reproductive and Sexual Health. She now offers gender affirming primary care, hormone and surgical readiness assessments to folks from the Kootenays and beyond.

Although providing care to gender diverse folks is only a portion of her practice, she hopes to be able to offer more services in the future, such as to youth including puberty blockers once she acquires the knowledge and expertise.

Dr. Galbraith's other special interests include offering first trimester medication and procedural abortions, contraception and working with the Options Clinic for Sexual Health, both locally and provincially. She is actively involved in teaching medical students and residents from UBC and makes sure to introduce aspects of gender affirming care during their patient encounters.

Trans Care BC's Clinical Mentorship Call is held every Thursday from 12:10 to 1:00 p.m. (Pacific Time). If you would like to be involved, please email trans.edu@phsa.ca to be included on our distribution list. Meeting minutes will be made available to all members.
