PHSA Employee Absence Reporting Line (PEARL)

PEARL is a central line to report an employee’s absence from work. This includes any absence for illness, workplace injury/incident or other reasons.

After reporting the absence within the automated system, the call will connect with the appropriate person (manager/supervisor and/or central staffing) to ensure proper staff replacement. The system is available 24/7.

Call 604-63-PEARL (73275) or toll free 1-855-66-PEARL (73275)

The process is simple. Just call one of the numbers listed above.

Enter your employee number, the number of shifts you expect to be away, and the reason for your absence (personal illness, workplace incident or other).
Your call will be transferred to the manager (scheduler, coordinator or other designate) and an e-mail about the absence will be sent right after it has been logged by the system.
Speak with a live operator at anytime by pressing ‘0’.

No. If you expect to be off the next day or more, then you need to call PEARL.

Yes, you need to call PEARL if the absence is one full shift or more.

Although you would have arranged this in advance with your manager/supervisor, you also need to call PEARL prior to the start of your leave. Absences can be logged up to five days in advance of the shift missed.

There may be services available to help you get back to your normal level of health and return to work safely.

Dial 0 and speak with the live operator. Identify the correct department and the shift you will be absent from.

The information spoken to you identifying your position, department and location is pulled from the HR PeopleSoft system. If you think this information is incorrect, please contact your manager when you return to work to get this updated in PeopleSoft.

After you receive a confirmation number, your call is transferred to your department. The transfer can take up to 10 seconds where you hear dead air; do not hang up, your call is being transferred in the background.

If you are unable to leave a voicemail message, phone back directly to your unit or department. You need to verbally speak or leave a message with your absence details.
