Safety Plans

As we move through the steps of the B.C. Restart plan, keeping our patients and workforce safe is our top priority.

PHSA is focused on communicable disease prevention, in alignment with the requirements from WorkSafe BC.

We are:

  • Implementing policies to support staff who have symptoms of a communicable disease, so they can avoid being at the workplace when sick.
  • Promoting hand hygiene.
  • Maintaining clean environments through routine cleaning processes.
  • Ensuring building ventilation is properly maintained and functioning as designed.
  • Supporting employees in receiving vaccinations for vaccine-preventable conditions, such as COVID-19.

We are also ensuring consistent and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), supported by ongoing education.

 Currently:

  • Medical masks must be worn by everyone in a clinical/patient care area, including common areas and break rooms, unless eating and/or drinking. Read PHSA's policy.
  • In alignment with advice from the Provincial Health Officer, masks are recommended for everyone in indoor public places, including PHSA's corporate settings, who has not been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. You are fully vaccinated 14 days after your second dose.

As we begin to gradually transition from our safety plans to ongoing communicable disease prevention, please remember that everyone's story is different. Practice patience and kindness, and check in regularly with your colleagues to gauge their comfort levels.
