When someone on our workforce tests positive for COVID-19, a contact tracing process is put in motion.
Both Infection Prevention & Control (IPAC) and Workplace Health are involved in the process and follow the directions from Public Health and the Medical Health Officer (MHO).
- Public Health contacts positive employee on behalf of the Medical Health Officer (MHO)
- Public Health works with the employee to get a list of other employees who may have been potentially exposed, based on MHO contact tracing and exposure criteria.
- Public Health (or their designate) contacts those individuals on the list for assessment based on MHO exposure criteria.
- Public Health provides the impacted employee(s) with instructions regarding isolation or symptom monitoring.
- Workplace Health provides manager or leader with updates and supports with any necessary staff communication.
