As part of PHSA's academic mandate, more than 1,200 research trainees study and work across PHSA each year. Post-doctoral, doctoral, masters, and undergraduate students help support and conduct research.
PHSA has the unique role of providing province-wide specialized health care services. This provides research trainees and students a valuable opportunity to link in with our research institutes and centres to conduct research under the supervision of talented clinicians and research investigators. This benefits not only research trainees: the important work they conduct as part of their training contributes to our research outcomes and ultimately improves patient care.
PHSA research trainee programs and placements are coordinated in partnership with our academic partners, including the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, University of Northern British Columbia and the University of Victoria. If you're interested in finding a research placement in your field of study, start by checking out the resources provided by your university. You can also visit PHSA's hospital, agency and research websites to learn more about our research and training opportunities.
