Curious about what the TACC’s interior will look like? Inspired by BC’s natural beauty, each floor will have its own colours and critters that will support wayfinding for patients and staff.
Pictured above: the renderings of the TACC lobby. The lighting will change throught the day to mirror the lighting outside.
After much planning and consultation with patients, families and staff, the colours and critters that will mark each floor in the Teck Acute Care Centre (TACC) have been finalized.
Inspired by the beauty of British Columbia’s natural landscape, each floor of the TACC will be represented by a feature of the province’s terrain, from the ocean floor to majestic mountains and from sweeping meadows to lush forests.
The TACC will be first and foremost a place of healing, but it is also a canvas to help create a comforting and welcoming environment for patients and their families.
A unique feature of this design process is that all of the design options have been evaluated throughout the design process by patients, families, care providers, physicians and staff. Each group was asked what they wanted to see in the new hospital and the designs and colours schemes chosen reflect those decisions. Their input and feedback has been invaluable throughout the consultation process.
