The provincial survey supports accountability and is part of BC’s commitment to support and promote quality service improvement throughout our health care system.
Survey respondents were people who have received chemotherapy and/or radiation outpatient therapy from 49 participating BC facilities in 2012/2013. A total of 6,385 responses were received for a response rate of 48.7 percent.
The survey report shows 97.5 per cent of respondents rate the quality of their overall care as good, very good or excellent.
Patients rated care providers confirming who they were before providing medications, treatments, counseling or tests highest and gave high marks to being treated with dignity and respect by outpatient providers. Patients noted there is room for improvement in areas such as emotional support and providing information.
