The Infection Prevention & Control Service (IPCS) ensures a safe environment for patients throughout PHSA and its agencies.
IPCS collaborates with regional health authorities, the Provincial Infection Control Network of BC and Public Health to promote standardization of guidelines and surveillance scope.
The following reports provide information on the progress and achievements of IPCS:
In response to the Office of the Auditor General report on hand hygiene, the Ministry of Health established a Provincial Hand Hygiene Working Group (PHHWG).
The mandate of the PHHWG is to create a comprehensive provincial hand hygiene program to improve and sustain compliance rates with the goal of decreasing health care-associated infections.
As part of the provincial hand hygiene program, PICNet produces provincial hand hygiene compliance reports.
The latest provincial hand hygiene quarterly report can be found on PICNet, on Hand Hygiene Compliance Auditing.
