Food Security

A community is “food secure” when everyone obtains a safe, personally acceptable, nutritious diet through a sustainable food system that maximizes self-reliance and justice.

Since 2005, PPH has played a leading role in BC’s food security community through a health promotion initiative called the Community Food Action Initiative (CFAI). PPH now plays a key role in the core public health program in food security.  CFAI is a program within it.

PPH provides provincial coordination and support to Ministry of Healthy Living and Sport-funded food security initiatives and policies that are implemented across BC by regional health authorities.
