Coordinating delivery of selected provincial programs and services

In addition to overseeing the operations of eight specialized health care facilities, the PHSA is responsible for selected provincial programs and services. Many of these services are based in facilities funded by other Health Authorities. Examples of provincial programs (adult and pediatric) currently under consideration for PHSA coordination and/or performance agreements include:

  • BC Ambulance Service
  • BC Autism Assessment Network
  • Provincial Blood Coordinating Office
  • Provincial Surgical Services Program
  • Provincial Emergency Services Program
  • Services
  • Trauma
  • Specialized diagnostics
  • Specialized cancer surgery
  • Telehealth

PHSA representatives are working with other health authorities and provincial services representatives to learn more about these programs to identify the most appropriate management arrangement and determine the impact of a new accountability structure. Decisions will reflect the PHSA's commitment to improving quality of care, patient service, access, and efficiency of provincial health programs.
