Provincial Hip & Knee Arthroplasty Collaborative

IT'S A JOINT EFFORT!!

The BC Arthroplasty is committed to improving joint replacement care and surgical access for British Columbians. Through the combined efforts of teams from around the province, we hope to improve quality of care, patient outcomes, flow through the system and reduce wait times for hip and knee replacement surgery.

Using the Institute for Health Improvement Collaborative Model, teams will participate in four two-day learning sessions with an action period between each. At the learning sessions teams will be taught best practice and improvement methodology. During the action period, teams will apply their learning in the clinical setting with coaching and support from the collaborative faculty.

Measurement is the cornerstone of quality improvement. Using standardized audit tools, sites measure their program performance and patient outcomes before during and after the collaborative. Access is provided to educational materials and presentations, clinical pathways, pre-printed physician orders and patient education materials.
