Provincial Blood Coordinating Office
The BC Provincial Blood Coordinating Office (BC PBCO) promotes the delivery of safe, effective and efficient transfusion services throughout the province. Established in 1997, the office serves as a medium for communication and consultation on provincial blood issues, provides a forum for blood policy planning and program implementation, and supports the needs of hospital blood banks in BC.
Areas of focus include blood utilization management, quality management and operation of BC’s Central Transfusion Registry. The BC PBCO works closely with transfusion medicine professionals, regional health authorities and Canadian Blood Services to develop and implement initiatives that improve transfusion practice and blood resource management.
