Creating a more coordinated and accountable provincial health system

The Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) is one of six health authorities in British Columbia. Its mandate is to ensure the planning, coordination, accessibility, quality, efficiency and effectiveness of selected province-wide health care programs and services.

The PHSA fulfills its mandate in three ways. It is responsible for:

  1. Corporate governance and management of selected agencies and organizations providing province-wide health care services;
  2. Development and management of performance agreements, expectations and funding allocations for selected provincial health care programs and services; and,
  3. Province-wide coordination of programs, services and support systems required by all health authorities and/or the Ministry of Health.
