Green Buildings
All new Lower Mainland health authority buildings are designed to meet the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold standard as per the BC government’s Energy Efficient Buildings Strategy.
LEED is a North American green building standard. Created by the U.S Green Building Council, it provides a framework for meeting green goals and assessing building performance. Based on well-founded scientific standards, LEED emphasizes state-of-the-art strategies for:
- sustainable site development
- water savings
- energy efficiency
- materials selection
- indoor environmental quality
LEED recognizes achievements and promotes expertise in green building through project certification, professional accreditation, training and practical resources.
